What Does the Future of Museums Look Like?

Continuing its work on the topic of the future of museums started by the conference ‘Is There a Future for Museums?’ in Vienna in September, 2016, Aksenov Family Foundation has invited Anna Leshchenko, senior lecturer at the Russian State University for the Humanities (Department of Museology, History of Art Faculty) and ICOFOM board member, to tell the latest forecasts and share her opinion on the subject.

Garage in Vienna

Aksenov Family Foundation continues to facilitate the expansion of Russia’s cultural institutions’ presence internationally. Last year the Foundation helped GROUND galleries (part of the Exhibition Halls of Moscow Association), Praktika theatre, and MediaArtLab in conjunction with Manezh to carry out their own non-profit projects at the viennacontemporary fair. This year, it is the Garage Museum of Contemporary Arts that has a stand at the Viennese fair.

Russian Cultural Institutions in Vienna

Within the strategy of supporting Russia institutions, the Aksenov Family Foundation invited two GROUND Galleries from the State Moscow City Galleries Network, the Praktika Theatre and the MediaArtLab in collaboration with MEA Manege to take part in the viennacontemporary 2015 Art Fair.

Urban Development & Contemporary Culture

On 26 September, 2015, a discussion “Urban Development & Contemporary Culture” was held at viennacontemporary 2015 Art Fair within the platform “Keys to Contemporary Art” which was supported by the Aksenov Family Foundation. It was chaired by Lutz Engelke, founder and CEO of TRIAD. The participants were Olivier Gabet, Director of the Musée Des Arts Décoratifs in Paris; Alina Saprykina, Director of the Museum of Moscow; and Alistair Spalding, Director of the Sadler’s Wells Theatre in London.
